Defoe shrugs off Manchester City spending power
Jermain Defoe is not losing sleep over Manchester City’s spending power.
The Blues now look in the best position of all clubs looking to challenge the established Big four in the Premier League, due to their huge spending in the transfer market.
However, this is something which isn’t worrying Defoe, who aims to help Tottenham Hotspur clinch a place in the top four during the 2009/10 campaign.
"Obviously Manchester City are in a position to do that now, that was always going to happen," the England international striker told the Journal.
"But if you spend money it doesn't mean anything to be honest. It doesn't guarantee that you're going to win trophies. Obviously if you get the best players in you're going to do well.
“But we've got good players as well. We've just got to concentrate on ourselves really and make sure that we get a good start to the season. I know we've got a good squad.”
