Roberto Martinez hopes Jason Koumas become a star player for Wigan Athletic Football Club during the course of the coming season.

The Wales international joined the Latics for £3.5million two years ago, but he has rarely shown the talent he has demonstrated in the past.

New DW Stadium Martinez has made it one of his targets to get the best out of Koumas, who he believes could become a key player.

"We need to get Jason playing with a smile on his face again because he has got the ability to hurt any defence,” Martinez told the Daily Mirror.
