Manchester City ace boasts: We can buy who we want!
10:30 AM 24 July, 2009
Nigel de Jong believes Manchester City Football Club can buy whoever they choose.

The Blues have already flexed their financial muscle this summer to sign Emmanuel Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz and Gareth Barry, as they look to gatecrash the Big Four.

Perhaps more significantly they have lured Carlos Tevez from neighbours United, and this has led to de Jong’s boast that nobody is out of reach for City.

“Manchester City are making a point that nothing is impossible. We can buy who we want,” the midfielder, a £17million January signing, is quoted on Tribal Football.

You can WoW me with your metaphors all you want, you can speak about Notts county and Newcastle all you want. But we can always be sure of a few things in this life and that is, death being the most obvious one and that Arsenal Liverpool and United will always pull through. Three teams that will always dominate the top flight of football. So you can replace Chelski, that spot is reserved for the overly rich children that have nothing else to do but play owner of a football club. You will never challenge the real honours.

All entitled to our views mate, and yes, the Red Army has marched impressively for endless years. Ferguson is a 'wiley old fox' who can bond a squad without being the biggest dealers in the transfer stakes, and rarely gets it wrong, I admire him, and they are still the team to beat. He's a winner. I also admire Wenger, his tact, eye for a player, and professionalism. Then there's Rafa, the big game tactician, who has answered his critics more than a few times. All three top managers, in the top bracket. But things change. New forces emerge. And NEW names appear. Where are Notts Forest now? Where are Newcastle? Big names from the past who couldnt sustain their past glories. Todays game is more of a business than a sport. These days, top businesses grow with firm ground structures. Man City's new owners have come in and area attempting to get that part in order. The ship has steadied, all it needs is the crew to steer it. The crew are assembling, and the sea will be rough for the first few years. But i get the feeling it could be Arsenal or Liverpool that hit the ice berg first!!!!!

Ok lets settle this now, city will never top there rivals....EVER. Santa Cruz is a waste of space, Ade this season has looked lost in front of goal, Barry is acting like a poor man? He's no Gerrard Robhino has lost all his flair and.....You have no defence, scoring goals is only part of football. Man city are no sleeping Giant they are an otherly lethargic one reminscent of Berbatov in United's FA cup defeat. Money can only buy so much, but you will never have the knowledge of managers like Wenger Ferguson and Rafa. Never the ingenuity vision and hard work that it takes to be a top four side. I'm not saying you won't ever finish in the top four, just saying you will never sustain a top four place season after season. Big up the red army

The HILARIOUS school-yard drivel coming out of certain mouths mainly from the growing new bunch of envious anti-City fans, is the funniest thing Ive heard since Sir Ballacks declaring Tevez "Isnt worth £25m" !(..Berbi £32??) LMFAO. Is the average age of the below respondents 7 or 8 ??? Boys/guys listen to uncle Kev here. Man City have acquired a DREAM wealth, from Arab owners wanting a sporting foot-hold in the UK. A sleeping giant was awakened overnight, and £1/2 billion 'gift' chucked our way to 'PAVE THE WAY' for a potential future success. If you ever had a dream for your club, like I did 3 years ago, then THIS is a dream realised. Its fantasy stuff. These guys mean business, and full credit to them for chooisng a very competitive league to launch their bid. And only THEY will know why they opted for Man City over others, eg, Everton, Newcastle, or even the Scottish Big Two. All with the same credentials, the fan base, and a potential to 'be great'. Naturally, this has created anger, envy and fear. 'Anger' from the 'Big 4' as a new threat has emerged, where their players could be tempted. 'Envy' at the power in the transfer market now that few can compete with. 'Fear' that City could now push one of the big 4 sideways. A lifelong City fan like me is today still rubbing my eyes at the sudden change in fortunes. Im also level headed and patient enough to adapt the 'walk before run' stance this season, and would be cock-a-hoop with a top 5 slot! The Bookies odds say it all... Man Utd 2/1, Chelsea 7/2, Liverpool 6/1, Arsenal 10/1 and Man City 16/1. This time last year City were '500/1', and rightly so. Vassell and Samaras up-front told a tale of our ambitions. Season 2010/2011 we should have ironed out the creases, glued the jigsaw together, and added the extra magic to get this whole thing on track to succeed. Maybe by then the Kaka's and the Eto'o's will be queuing up to join the City revolution.... and there will be not oom

Your talking in facts, well then even you must agree that de Jong mouthing off about buying whoever you want is false. Many players have turned down city's millions. The fact of the matter as previous stated is that of your purchases thus far, none of them had an outstanding season last year. Just because you have the money doesnt buy you quality as you've paid well over the odds, £25m for ade, £18m for santa cruz, you've just been mugged off. You couldnt stay in Uefa and you couldnt get a top six finish, and now outcasts from the gooners and blackburn are gonna help you break the top four??? Besides which how will you manage to achieve this if you have no defense, purchasing strikers that cant score and having quite poss the worse defensive record not exactly the stuff revolutions are made of is it!!!

“Manchester City are making a point that nothing is impossible." The exception to that clearly being winning, or even drawing against a MLS side!! A top half of the table finish for citeh, but def not 4th!! Lets hope this season that all your signings have learnt from Robinihos mistake, just cos u play in blue and get paid a lot doesnt mean your at Chelsea!!

Are you serious? Man, i thought manchester city fans were delirious, but man it is worse than I thought, if you dont know who Kaka is you are obviously not a football fan, for you see toady Kaka is a good player, and good players are unusual at manchester city. Top 3, i think you should first aim for the top 6, that would be a very tough target for the man shitty to accomplish, and a cup please, you got knocked out by Nottingham Forrest at home int he 3rd round, keep dreaming, oh wait you already are dreaming becasue you think man shitty is good.
