Doyle eyes swift Wolverhampton Wanderers return
01:03 PM 26 July, 2009
Kevin Doyle aims to be fit for the start of the new season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers paid a club record fee of £6.5million to take the striker to Molineux this summer, only for the 25-year-old to pick up a hernia problem.

Doyle has undergone an operation to fix the injury, and although he was expected to miss the start of the season, he is hopeful of being available to face West Ham United on 15 August.

“Fortunately it was nothing serious, it was just a small hernia operation,” Doyle told the official club site.

"The doctor is one of the best in the world and she said everything went perfectly.

“There were no problems and I should be back in training in ten days time. I'm in every day and doing bits and pieces and should be able to join in fully with the lads in ten days to two weeks.

"That gives me a chance then to maybe get a pre-season game or two under my belt and maybe sneak in for the start of the season. That's certainly what I am looking for."
