Almunia: Arsenal squad is strong enough
Manuel Almunia doesn’t believe it a necessity for Arsenal to add to their squad this summer.
Only Thomas Vermaelen, the Belgian international defender, has been signed ahead of the new season, whilst striker Emmanuel Adebayor has left for Manchester City.
Many pundits and fans felt the reason the Gunners struggled last season was due to a lack of quality in their squad, but despite a lack of major activity this summer, Almunia isn’t worried.
"I think the squad is good enough," he said. "We have a few lessons to learn from last season but I think that the more mature we are, the more responsible we are, too.
"I hope this season every player is responsible with their attitude and in all circumstances. I hope we will be very professional, not just in the games but every day as well.
"There is always a hunger in the squad. Sometimes other teams are better than you and this season we will try to be better than them. I think every single player has to realise what club we are playing for."
