Wigan Athletic vow to shrug off Cattermole interest
10:15 AM 30 July, 2009
Robert Martinez won’t entertain the idea of Lee Cattermole leaving Wigan Athletic Football Club.

Sunderland have already failed with two bids for the England Under-21 international, whilst reports suggest Arsenal and Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the player.

However, Martinez, appointed as Steve Bruce’s successor this summer, insists he will not sell Cattermole, who only signed for the Latics from Middlesbrough last summer.

"I am not surprised at all [by the interest]," Martinez told Sky Sports News. “You look at him as a player - technically, physically - he is a leader and we need him in our squad."
