Tottenham Hotspur boss denies Bassong offer
08:58 PM 02 August, 2009
Harry Redknapp insists Tottenham Hotspur have not bid for Sebastien Bassong.

Injury concerns over Michael Dawson, Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate has left Spurs struggling for cover ahead of their Premier League opener against Liverpool.

It was reported on Sunday that a £10million offer had been tabled for Newcastle United star Bassong, but this came as something of a surprise to Redknapp.

"It is not true. Not since I have been here today," he said. "He is a player that I was interested in. I like Bassong, he is a young player with a good future and a good central defender.

"I don't think we have made an offer as far as I know. I am sure the chairman has not made an offer."
