Wolverhampton Wanderers confirm Doyle absence
05:32 PM 04 August, 2009
Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed Kevin Doyle will miss the start of the season.

The £6.5million record club signing from Reading is still recovering from a hernia operation, and it has been confirmed he will not return in time for the opener against West Ham United.

"Kevin will be training this week but probably not in full training, and that will be a big plus for us," said Mick McCarthy. "He might be fit for the start of the season.

“But I don't think it's likely he'll be fully fit. He'll be fit when he's fit. It's impossible for him to be at the same level as everyone else. He needs games."
