Shotton could get shot at Premier League for Stoke City
04:00 PM 05 August, 2009
Ryan Shotton could make a Premier League debut for Stoke City a week on Saturday.

The 20-year-old impressed during a loan spell at Tranmere Rovers last season, and he has also shone for Tony Pulis’s top-flight side during their pre-season preparation.

Whilst Andy Wilkinson and Andy Griffin are expected to be ahead of Shotton in the pecking order at the Britannia Stadium, Pulis has hinted the fullback could play against Burnley on 15 August.

"Young Ryan has got a chance against Burnley. He's a good defender, quick in one-on-ones and he's done smashing so far," Pulis told The Sentinel. "He did well on loan at Tranmere last season.

“I wanted to have a look at him this pre-season because there's been quite a bit of interest from lower league clubs wanting to know what we were planning for him.”
