Portsmouth explain £6million Kalinic collapse
11:15 AM 07 August, 2009
Portsmouth Football Club have explained why they missed out on Nikola Kalinic.

The Fratton Park club looked set to land the Croatian international striker from Hajduk Split earlier this summer, but the 21-year-old now looks set to sign for Blackburn Rovers in a £6million deal.

"The transfer fee was pretty well agreed, all we were arguing about was payment terms because we were not in a position to put any money down,” Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie told The News.

"What I was looking to do there was make the first transfer payment in October or January and then it goes on from there. We did get there but the danger is if somebody else comes in and puts the money down - which Blackburn Rovers did."
