Kuyt honoured to skipper Liverpool
06:00 PM 07 August, 2009
Dirk Kuyt has been honoured to captain Liverpool Football Club during pre-season.

The Dutch international has taken the skipper’s armband during a couple of friendly fixtures, and although he is honoured to do so, he admits he is third in the pecking order at best.

"It means a lot to be captain of Liverpool," said Kuyt.

"Obviously I know that Stevie Gerrard is No.1 and we have Jamie Carragher as well. With so many changes in pre-season everyone needs to play and I've had the armband, it's a great honour."
