Sir Alex Ferguson admits he will be watching developments at Manchester City Football Club with interest as the 2009/10 season progresses.

The Blues have spent almost £100million on the likes of Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor this summer, as they look to force a way into the Premier League’s top four.

Whilst Ferguson has his doubts as to whether Mark Hughes can achieve such a finish this season, the United manager admits he and the rest of the Big Four will be watching with interest.

"Ourselves, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal are looking at what is happening there with great interest in how it will pan out,” he said. "You look at the money that has been spent.

“Every week City are on the back pages. None of us have gone into the market in a big way. In fact we sold players. It has been really quiet with the big four."
