Karim Benzema claims there is only one club he was prepared to join this summer.

The France international forward was one of the most sought-after players in European football when the transfer window opened, with Manchester United firmly interested.

However, the Lyon striker, whilst revealing he held talks with Sir Alex Ferguson, insists he was only ever interested in joining Real Madrid, which he did for £30million in early July.

"When I think about joining a club, I do not think about money," said Benzema. "It is true I spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson and that he wanted me, but I was clear in where I wanted to go."
