Phil Brown has hailed Hull City Football Club’s interest in Alvaro Negredo.

The Tigers are prepared to pay £12million for the Real Madrid striker, and Brown believes their interest is proof that the club have lofty ambitions in the Premier League.

"He will be an expensive signing for anybody," Brown told Sky Sports News. "When you are going into the £12million brackets, and our record signing is £5million on Jimmy Bullard, it's a sign of intent.

"It's not a done deal, but the fact that we're sitting round a table with representatives from Real Madrid shows the sign of intent from the chairman, and hopefully from the manager.

"We're quite pleased with what we've done so far at our end. We're obviously hoping to tie up the loose ends at the Real Madrid end by the close of play on either Monday or Tuesday."
