Liverpool Football Club have reportedly made a shock enquiry for James Milner.

The England international only moved to Aston Villa last summer, when Martin O’Neill moved to take him from Newcastle United in a transfer worth £12million.

The 23-year-old has gone from strength-to-strength since and is expected to push for a place in Fabio Capello’s World Cup squad, after making his long-awaited debut against Holland last week.

It is reported in The Sun the Rafael Benitez has made a cheeky enquiry for Milner, but it would be a major surprise if the Midlands club agree to let the winger leave anytime soon.
