Sebastien Bassong is naturally delighted with his debut for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

The £8million signing from Newcastle United leapt to score a second half goal against Liverpool at White Hart Lane, to give the hosts a memorable 2-1 Premier League win.

"It is the perfect debut, my first game with Spurs, and I am really happy to score to get the win," Bassong, who partnered Ledley King in the heart of the back four, told Sky Sports.

"To win the first game is really good for the confidence. But to play next to Ledley is easy because he talks all the time and he helped me so I have had to work hard like him."
