Sky Sports claim John Mensah has passed a medical at Sunderland Football Club.

The Black Cats have in the past couple of weeks been heavily linked with the Ghanaian international, who has become surplus to requirements after just one season at Lyon.

Sky Sports claim the 26-year-old former Rennes star has now headed to the Stadium of Light to pass a medical with the Premier League side, who hope to announce a season-long loan on Friday.
