Aston Villa Football Club could yet make an offer for Paul Scharner.

Martin O’Neill has been linked with the Austrian international in the past, and the Mirror claim the Villa boss made a check on him on Saturday afternoon at the DW Stadium.

Although the 29-year-old was on the receiving end as Manchester United beat his Wigan Athletic 5-0, the newspaper claim O’Neill has not been out off by his performance.

The Villa manager is desperate to add some bodies to his squad, one of the smallest in the Premier League, and he could move for Scharner ahead of the deadline.
