Is Tottenham’s Huddlestone worth an England call?
05:00 PM 25 August, 2009
If Tom Huddlestone continues his fine form for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, it will surely be difficult for Fabio Capello to ignore him in this World Cup season.

The former Derby County youngster is finally showing signs that he is about to realise his potential, after starring for Spurs in their 100% winning start to the new season.

Huddlestone admits his main priority is keeping his place in Harry Redknapp’s side, something he is willing to do by dropping into defence if it means time on the field.

"If I'm playing, I'm happy, whether it's at centre-back or in midfield,” he said. "I'm 23 in December and obviously that's not young anymore. I want to be playing every week so it's a massive season for me.”

Capello does have a number of options in midfield ahead of next summer, but if Huddlestone continues his form, he could well give the Italian coach another possibility.

there are far too many players in front of him that should get the call up. He is no Gareth Barry or Franky Lampard, maybe in a couple of years time, when he is much better. At the moment he's average.
