Everton could offer £5million to land Distin
09:30 AM 26 August, 2009
Everton Football Club could meet the asking price to sign Sylvain Distin.

The French defender is in the final twelve months on his contract at Portsmouth, and is widely expected to leave the Fratton Park club this month.

Sky Sports claim Aston Villa, desperate to replace the retired Martin Laursen, have tabled a bid for the 31-year-old, but they could face competition from the Toffees.

Pompey apparently want £5million to consider the sale of Distin, and the Liverpool Echo claim David Moyes wants him to replace Joleon Lescott, who is Manchester City-bound.

Good player, however £5m for a 31yr old who is available for probably half in 4 months time when pre contract can be signed seems a bit desperate. Not much more will secure Taylor from newcastle as they need the money and he will be a player for the future. Any more than £2m on business level wont be the best and if our hands wasnt tied, we wouldnt pay it
