Smith set to choose Portsmouth over Royals
Tommy Smith is undergoing a medical at Portsmouth Football Club.
The Premier League side have had an offer of £1.8million accepted for the Watford player, much to the disappointment of Reading boss Brendan Rodgers who was hopeful of signing him.
"Tommy was on his way here to sign but there's been a higher bid from Portsmouth, which Watford have accepted, but Tommy hasn't accepted as of yet," Rodgers told the Reading Post.
"I respect Tommy and his decisions and he needs to take stock, but it's certainly not dead. It's the last big move of his career so he has to listen in on that in relation to what is best for him and his family."
Sky Sports claim Smith is now undergoing a medical with the South Coast club, which would suggest he has settled on a move to Fratton Park.
