Sylvain Distin is set to join Everton Football Club.

The Toffees lost Joleon Lescott to Manchester City in a £24million deal this week, and they have moved quickly to agree a fee for Portsmouth defender Distin, 31.

“Sylvain Distin is now on his way to Merseyside to undergo a medical," Goodison Park chief executive, Robert Elstone, told the club's official website.

The French defender, formerly of Manchester City, is in the final year of his contract at Pompey, who are set to receive of around £5million for his signature.
