Arsenal happy to see Chamakh stay in France
Arsenal Football Club weren’t too disheartened to lose out on Marouane Chamakh this summer.
The Morocco striker is out of contract at Bordeaux at the end of the season, and bearing this in mind, Arsene Wenger was only prepared to pay half of the £10million asking price for his signature.
When this was rejected the Gunners boss refused to go any higher, which was risky considering Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were also linked with the player.
However, the transfer deadline has been and gone and Chamakh remains a Bordeaux player, meaning the Emirates Stadium club could tie him to a free transfer agreement in the New Year.
This would see the 25-year-old head to North London at the end of the season, but there is also the possibility of Wenger offering the Ligue 1 club a cut-price last offer to take the player in January.
