Sir Alex Ferguson can’t wait to pick Gabriel Obertan for Manchester United Football Club.

The French winger was a shock £3million signing for the Reds in the summer from Bordeaux, but he has so far been unable to make his debut due to a back problem.

"Gabriel has had a spine problem, but I think he’ll be back in about a month to six weeks’ time,” Sir Alex told Inside United Magazine. "He’s very quick, he can play both sides or through the middle.

“He brings a real versatility to us. At 16 he was one of the outstanding talents in Europe, and over this last year and a half he’s been playing with this back injury and no-one thought about getting a scan.

"We expect big things from him."
