Marlon Harewood is a target for Newcastle United Football Club.

The 30-year-old striker is well down the pecking order for places in the Aston Villa attack, and he was close to joining Hull City on transfer deadline day.

That deal broke down when, according to the agent of the player, Tigers boss Phil Brown failed to finalise the move before the 5pm closing time.

The Mirror now claim Newcastle want to take Harewood on loan for the rest of the season, as they look to make an instant return to the Premier League.
