Sebastien Bassong is happy with the competition he has at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Despite being a £10million summer signing, the former Newcastle United star believes he is competing with one of the strongest defences in the Premier League.

However, Bassong feels training and playing alongside the likes of Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate will only develop him into a better footballer.

"We have some outstanding central defenders here, I don't think there are many other clubs in the Premier League with so many of such a high standard,” he told Hotspur magazine.

“I knew before I signed that if everyone is fit it will be a tough fight to play. But I can't fail to learn from the others. I have a lot to learn so having players like them around is a good thing for me."
