Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink insists he is ready to make an instant impact at Hull City.

Although the 30-year-old Dutch striker was without a club since leaving Celtic at the end of last season, he has been keeping himself fit and insists he is ready to feature for the Tigers immediately.

"I have never felt so fit," Hesselink told the Sunday Mirror. "After leaving Celtic, I trained with my physio and after that Steve McLaren let me train with FC Twente.

"They had Champions League qualifiers so the training was very intense. It meant I was still playing football and I now have a base to build from. When I came to Hull I got the right feeling."
