Huth could have been a decent option for Arsenal
Matt Willis writes in to Fans FC to ask why Arsenal didn’t make a summer move for Robert Huth.
The German international left Middlesbrough for Stoke City prior to the transfer deadline, but Matt believes Arsene Wenger may have missed a trick in not moving for the player:
“Thomas Vermaelen has been an excellent signing for us, but I can’t help but feel that Huth would have been a super addition to the squad,” writes Matt.
“I know he has had his injury problems in the past, but when he is fit he is amongst the toughest centre-halves around, something we still lack at the Emirates.
“I know Arsene Wenger is a bit reluctant to spend (which is a problem in itself), but Huth would have cost no more than £5million, which is a bargain for a German international.”
If Huth does remain fit he will no doubt be a great addition to Tony Pulis’s side, but would he have been good enough to challenge for a place in Wenger’s starting eleven?
