Distin happy to fight Manchester City threat
09:00 AM 09 September, 2009
Sylvain Distin is happy to fight the threat of Manchester City Football Club this season.

The former Eastlands defender joined Everton from Portsmouth in a deal worth around £5million this summer, and he aims to help the Toffees challenge for a top-four finish.

Many pundits expect City to make such a finish their minimum target after spending so heavily in the summer, but Distin believes there is just as much quality at Goodison Park.

“When you have players who have played together for a long time that is a plus and it is not just getting players – it is about getting the right players,” he told the official club website.

“Everton have proved that they can do it. The competition will be tougher but that suits us great. Apart from the top four there are four or five other teams who are really going to be after good times.”
