Phil Brown expects to see Ian Ashbee make a return for Hull City Football Club.

The 33-year-old suffered a serious knee injury at the end of last season, but he has shown his determination in the past by beating a career-threatening bone condition.

Ashbee is likely to miss the vast majority of the 2009/10 campaign following surgery, but his manager at the KC Stadium expects him to return to the club when he has recovered.

"Three years ago he was told he was finished and I think he will prove people wrong again," Brown told the club's official website. "I'm certainly looking forward to working with him again."
