Blackburn Rovers target January Cisse bid?
01:30 PM 09 September, 2009
Djibril Cisse could be a January target for Blackburn Rovers Football Club.

Sam Allardyce has made a number of changes to his personnel at Ewood Park since replacing Paul Ince last season, but his side have made a poor start to the new season.

The Rovers boss had identified Cisse as a potential summer target, but the France international joined Panathinaikos from Marseille when his loan at Sunderland ended.

The 27-year-old, though, is enduring a difficult start to life in Greece, after he was racially abused and had plastic bottles hurled at him during a recent friendly against Olympiakos.

"This has never happened to me before. I didn't come to Greece for fans to react in this way and to make racist remarks whenever I get the ball. I became furious with all this,” he said.

Allardyce spoke in the summer of making a big-name signing which would shock the footballing world, as he did when adding Nicolas Anelka to his Bolton Wanderers squad in 2007.

Cisse would certainly fit that bill and he would relish a return to the North West, where he met his wife during his spell at Liverpool, and a loan offer could be in the pipeline.
