Distin had no interest in joining Liverpool
02:04 PM 13 September, 2009
Sylvain Distin has revealed he had no intention of joining Liverpool in the summer.

The Reds were said to be interested in the French defender, who was also heavily linked with a return to his former club, Manchester City.

However, the player eventually left Portsmouth for Everton, and he has revealed he had no intention of signing for the Anfield or Eastlands clubs.

"I read about some interest from City. But when I saw the kind of names they were signing, if I went back I'd be on the bench," said the 31-year-old Distin.

"It was not what you might call in England 'my cup of tea'. It's the same with Liverpool who were interested. I didn't want to be a squad player."
