Burnley Football Club’s Chris McCann faces a lengthy injury lay-off.

The midfielder suffered medial knee damage during the 3-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday, which could rule him out until December.

"Chris has suffered a bad injury and I would expect him to be out for a minimum of two to three months," said boss Owen Coyle. "He has damaged his medial ligament.

“It's very unfortunate and a body blow for him. That's where my thoughts are because whenever he has been available he has been in my team.

"I think the world of him, both as a player and as a lad and the good thing is he is at such a young age he will come back better and stronger for it."
