Dirk Kuyt has been hugely impressed with Liverpool Football Club’s Glen Johnson.

The Reds paid a reported £17million for the England international fullback in the summer, although some of this fee was offset as Portsmouth still owed them for Peter Crouch.

Johnson has made a superb start to his life on Merseyside and has already become a fans favourite, and Dutch international Kuyt can understand why.

“I think Glen has done really well," he told the club's official website. "He was a big signing for us but he has shown straight that he is very important - both defensively and in attack.

"He has scored some goals and provided some assists. He is probably one of the best players in the team so far this season. He is still young and I think he will only get better and better."
