Gael Clichy knows Kieran Gibbs wants to take his place in the Arsenal side.

French defender Clichy has established himself as one of the best left-backs in Europe with the Gunners, but he knows he can’t afford to take his place for granted.

"For many years, I was in competition with Ashley (Cole) and I recognised he was one of the best left-backs in the world,” Clichy, 24, said.

“Now Kieran is in the same place I was in and I know what he will be thinking. We go for dinner together but I know in his mind he wants my place.”
