Daniel Agger is close to making a return to action for Liverpool Football Club.

The Danish international is yet to play this season due to a back injury, but Rafael Benitez has confirmed that the defender is close to making a return.

"Daniel is training really well and improving," said Benitez. "He has a specific programme with weights to strengthen his back. He is doing well and progressing.

“The main thing for him now is match fitness. We are hoping he could be back playing next week, but when and where we still have to decide.”
