Gael Clichy believes Arsenal Football Club are stronger in defence this season.

Kolo Toure, the last of the 2004 Invincibles, was sold to Manchester City in the summer, but his replacement, Thomas Vermaelen, has been superb.

"We missed a good relationship between the two centre-backs last season,’ said Clichy. “William Gallas needed to have a good relationship with someone.

“And with Thomas Vermaelen something just clicked on the first day."
