Gilberto admits he struggled to adapt to life at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

The experienced Brazilian arrived at White Hart Lane from Werder Bremen in January 2008, but he barely had a decent game in England before Spurs allowed him to join Cruzeiro.

"I think one of the factors that hurt me was the lack of adaptation to English football,” said Gilberto. "Perhaps I went to Tottenham in not so good physical condition.

“I wasn't able to play. I believe I could have played more for Tottenham. But thankfully I have found myself at Cruzeiro, where I am happy."
