Steve Bruce is full of praise for Sunderland Football Club’s Andy Reid.

Often criticised for being on the heavy side, the 27-year-old midfielder put himself through a gruelling summer fitness regime and has been excellent of late.

“He has been arguably our best player for a month," said a delighted Black Cats boss Bruce. "He has not missed a day's training since pre-season.

"The penny had dropped with him that you have to be in some physical condition to play in the Premier League, it's as simple as that. I can only say well done to him."
