Martin O’Neill is sure Gareth Barry doesn’t regret leaving Aston Villa Football Club.

The England international ended his lengthy spell with the Midlands club when he joined Manchester City in the summer, to the disappointment of the Villa Park faithful.

As much as O’Neill was himself upset at losing Barry, he believes the rapid progress of City has ensured the player doesn’t regret his £12million move.

“He’s a very good footballer,” said O’Neill.

“He’s strong, he’s at Manchester City where competition for places is strong. I’m sure Gareth’s fine. If you speak to him I’m sure he’s pretty pleased with his decision.
