AC Milan target Real Madrid’s Drenthe
01:30 PM 02 October, 2009
AC Milan want to take Royston Drenthe from Real Madrid in the New Year.

The Dutch international looks likely to become a casualty of the new era at the Bernabeu, and he has made just one appearance so far this season.

According to Tuttomercatoweb claim Milan are plotting a January bid for the 22-year-old, who joined Real in the summer of 2007 from Feyenoord.

If the Rossoneri succeed in their bid to sign the versatile Drenthe, if will be their second raid on the Spanish capital in recent weeks after luring Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in the summer.

There's no way Drenthe is leaving Real Madrid in the winter break. He is second behind Marcelo in the left back depth chart, but if he leaves Real will be extremely thin at fullback, with only Alvaro Arbeloa, who can play on either side, as an available backup for either side. Right now Arbeloa is injured, so there's no way Real Madrid will gamble on this. Drenthe should be happy with his two starts (one in La Liga and one in Champions League), because he is closer than he's ever been to playing since he arrived in Madrid.
