Sunderland boss blasts Richardson
10:47 AM 04 October, 2009
Steve Bruce believed Kieran Richardson could have cost Sunderland Football Club a memorable victory at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

Darren Bent and Kenwyne Jones had put the Black Cats 2-1 up against Manchester United, but their job was made more difficult when Richardson was shown a second yellow card.

The former United player received his second booking for kicking the ball away at a free-kick, and the home side levelled the score in shortly afterwards in stoppage time.

"It was stupid," said Bruce. "It is hard enough to defend here with 11 players. These things happen in the heat of the moment but it could have cost us the game."
