Ancelotti: Liverpool miss Alonso
03:20 PM 04 October, 2009
Carlo Ancelotti believes Liverpool Football Club are missing Xabi Alonso.

The Reds travel to Chelsea on Sunday, and Ancelotti is glad he won’t have to consider taking on a player Rafael Benitez sold to Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

"The midfield of Liverpool put a lot of pressure on you because Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano were fantastic players," said the Stamford Bridge boss.

"Lucas Leiva is a young player and he has to get experience. I think he will be a very good midfielder, but without Alonso, they have lost something.”

Well to my fellow liverpool fans, we can just hope Aquliani lives up to his hype. For the record Rafa did not let Alonso go. He choose to leave. Cut Lucas some slack. He is young. At a tender age of 22 he has a lot of potential to become one of the best in the game. But i would like to see more of Damien Plessis or Jay Spearing those guys look genuinely possible to be wonderkids.

As Man City, Spurs and Villa steam past us into the Top 4 race, we will rue letting Alonso go. Match of the Day2 last night pointed out perfectly the gaping hole in that midfield. We were AWFUL against Chelsea. I hnostly think we will finish 7th, if lucky!
