Manchester United skipper hails Fletcher progress
Gary Neville is impressed with the progress Darren Fletcher has made at Manchester United.
The Scotland international has previously been considered only a squad player at Old Trafford, but he is now a key member of Sir Alex Ferguson’s first team.
"Another player who is finally getting the recognition he deserves is Darren Fletcher. I think Fletcher has always been undervalued,” Neville told the Times of Malta.
“Players like him are always appreciated more internally than externally, but now he's started to get the external plaudits. His performances in big games have been outstanding.
“Now you're seeing maturity coming into his game and confidence that comes from playing regularly. It's difficult sometimes because we're at a club with world-class players.
“But he's now almost demanding to be picked every week because of his level of performances. He's added goals to his game, he's getting forward, he's marking players out of games in big matches, and he's developed leadership qualities with Scotland."
