Michael Turner believes Lee Cattermole is an England international of the future.

Sunderland paid big money for the midfielder in the summer, and Turner, another big signing, believes the former Wigan Athletic star could gatecrash the World Cup squad.

“Hopefully, the England manager will have to start watching Sunderland more and more regularly in the future,” said the defender, another tipped for Fabio Capello’s plans.

“Lee Cattermole has played a lot of games for the England Under-21s so he’s someone who has to come into the equation at some stage."
