Boudewijn Zenden is hopeful of landing a deal at Sunderland Football Club.

The former Chelsea, Liverpool and Middlesbrough midfielder is available on a free transfer following the end of his Middlesbrough contact, and he has been training with the Black Cats.

“It's now a week that I've been training with Sunderland, and I will continue another week with this team," Zenden told France Football. "I will know if I will sign only towards the end of next week.

"What is certain is that the bosses are interested in me. They only want to see if I am physically fit or not. It's a very nice club, well organised, with superb facilities."
