Sir Alex Ferguson names England strikers
06:35 PM 17 October, 2009
Sir Alex Ferguson has named the strikers he feels will make England’s World Cup squad.

The Manchester United boss believes there is at least one place up for grabs in Fabio Capello’s pool of strikers, which he is certain will be led by Reds star Wayne Rooney.

Ferguson also feels Carlton Cole and Peter Crouch will make the trip to South African, and he believes Old Trafford number seven Michael Owen will also get a recall.

“There may be two or three places up for grabs," he said. "Michael Owen has a good chance because he is a striker and England don't have a tremendous number of them.

"The form of Carlton Cole will have encouraged him and Peter Crouch's goals don't do him any harm. Along with Wayne Rooney I think those three will go to South Africa, then it is a fight for one more."
