Lescott hails his Manchester City move
Joleon Lescott has described the day he signed for Manchester City as one of the best of his life.
The England defender has come in for some sharp criticism due to the manner in which he left Everton for Eastlands, with many critics claiming the move was down to money.
However, Lescott has told the Daily Mail that he was eager to clinch the move to City not because of an increased salary, but because he believes the club is going places.
“Moving to City was one of the best days in my life because it was something I wanted," he said. "It wasn't about the money. Believe me, I had a great contract at Everton. I didn't need any more.
“But City represented a chance to achieve real success faster than it was going to happen at Everton. At City it's just brilliant, the way the dressing room has gelled.
“I think it's the sheer sense of excitement among all the lads, this feeling that we can achieve things and not just in the future but straight away. You can sense the excitement among the fans, too.”
