Kris Boyd is Birmingham City’s top target for the January transfer window.

Alex McLeish knows the striker well from his days in charge of Rangers and Scotland, and he intends to be reunited with the player for the second half of the season.

Following the takeover of the St Andrews club from Carson Yeung, the Blues manager has been told he will have a healthy transfer budget to ensure top-flight safety.

It is believed Boyd is McLeish’s first choice when the window reopens, and he will look to land the Ibrox man for a fee of £3million and a salary offer of £20,000-per-week.
