Ryan Shawcross doesn’t think a move to Liverpool would benefit his career right now.

The Anfield club have been linked with a move for the former Manchester United youngster, who is earning a big reputation in the heart of the back four for Stoke City.

Shawcross is clearly aware of the speculation linking him with Rafael Benitez’s side, but he insists he is better of remaining at the Britannia Stadium at this stage of his career.

“I am very happy here. If I moved to a big club like Liverpool, I might not play,” he said. "So my aim is to stay at Stoke City and we're talking about a new contract right now.”
